The World Wide Web Consortium(W3C) develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential as a forum for information, commerce, communication, and collective understanding.

The World Wide Web Consortium(W3C), started in 1994, is an international consortium where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. W3C's mission is: To lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensure long-term growth for the Web. W3C primarily pursues its mission through the creation of Web standards and guidelines. Till now, W3C has World Offices in fifteen regions around the world. Organizations join W3C to work and exchange ideas with more than 400 Members, including the world's foremost technology companies. In China, more and more institutes, research centers as well as IT enterprises are engaging in Web technologies. As we can see, China has a prominent speed and is highly potential in web technology development.

To our honor, Beihang University was successfully qualified to host W3C China Office in October, 2005, which is W3C's first branch office in China region besides Hong Kong. It is said the set up the office will of great importance to the developments of both China's web technology and W3C. With the office hosted at Beihang University, China is playing a key role in the field of WWW and web technology, where China will join leading the future development of WWW. What's more, just as far as Beijing is concerned, a number of reseach centers and IT enterprises have owned W3C's membership and more and more of the others are applying its membership. Obviously, China is highly potential in the development of web technology. In a word, Beihang's sucess in hosting W3C China Office will not only help Beihang to take part in global IT process, but also is a great promotion for China's web technology development.

Chinese Office Staff

Prof.Huai Jinpeng holds positions and titles of Vice president of Beihang University, Leader of computer division of China’s 863 projects, Leader of China’s e-government standardization, Syndic of China Computer Federation and Member of Consultative Committee of China’s Information Construction and Committee of Chinese Journal of Computers. His current research interest involves Computer software research& application, web service technology and Information security on network. He is the Manager of the W3C Office in China.

Prof. Liu Xudong works as Senior Dean of School of Computer Science & Engineering in BUAA and Group leader of the National E-business Standardization Application Support Group. He has engaged in the research and development in such respects as computer application and computer software and other fields for a long time.His current research interest involves E-Business, XML technology and WEB service. Prof. Liu Xudong is the vice Manager of the W3C Office in China.

Dr.Du Zongxia achieved her Doctor's degree of Computer Science and technology in 2005 at Beihang, which she now works for as a teacher. She specialises in network midware and Web Service. Until now, she has more than 10 acdemic papers published by various core journals as well as conference of worldwide influence. She is in charge of operation of the Chinese Office work with supports from W3C Office.

Angel Li, W3C China Office Business Manager, Beihang University Representative of W3C Advisory Committee, joined W3C China Office in the year of 2006. She got her Master's Degree in English Literature in Beihang University, and well trained in Administrative Management in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2009, she was granted with PMP, the Project Management Professional Certificate by Project Management Institute. Angel Li mainly takes care of Chinese Member Recruitment, events organizing, liaison and administration work in the office.
